South Korean £300m Teesside Factory
SeAH Wind confirmed investment of £300m into the largest monopile factory in the world to be based in Tesside. the 90-acre site will create 750 direct jobs and 1,500 more indirect ones. Originally planned for the Humberside, it is due to commence in July and should be produce 100-150 monopiles per year when fully active by 2026. A monopile is a steel tube foundation of a wind turbine.

The campus will combine 2 high schools delivered by BAM and Fife College delivered by Balfour Beatty. The 58-acre campus will accommodate 2,400 students from completion in 2024. Designed by AHR Architects the project achieves Passivhaus certification which is a design standard for economical energy use and comfort. Separate plans for 225 homes and community project adjacent are being processed.

HS2 Builds UK’s Longest Rail Bridge

Production began on 1,000 concrete segments for the 3.4km Colne Valley Viaduct, the UK’s longest bridge. The new bridge is part of HS2 and will link the Colne Valley National Park and the Grand Union Canal in Hillingdon. It will carry trains running at up to 200mph and consists of 56 giant peers weighing 370 tonnes each. The design is a series of spans set low into the landscape and inspired by ‘the flight of a stone skipping across the water.’

£107m Kier Forum Campus in Gloucester

The new campus will feature co-working space, a hotel, conference facilities, a wellness centre & members club, 43 new homes and a commercial community space with cafes & bars. The project is funded in part £5m from the Government’s Levelling Up fund to go into a tech startup incubator. Due to commence in March the project is expected to complete by summer 2024 and deliver 2 acres of pedestrianised public space as part of the greater regeneration of Gloucester.
