£100m Scottish Hydrogen Plans
Scotland is backing hydrogen with £100m investment into the technology and plans for it to provide a sixth of Scotland’s energy by 2030. The total amount will be invested into a series of smaller projects such as Hydrogen Innovation Fund. The efficiency of hydrogen compared to battery remains to be seen however the damaging mining of lithium and cobalt makes e-cars not as environment friendly as popular thought. The bi products of hydrogen production are also not as simple as hydrogen and oxygen if the fuel is not produced by electrolysing water (instead of fossil fuels), and only producing hydrogen from water using electricity generated by renewable means makes it truly green.
