£1bn Midlands Logistics Site
Canadian developer Oxford Partners & multi-national Logistics Capital Partners will invest £1bn in the new West Midlands Interchange which has approval for 8 million square feet of logistics space. Construction is expected to start in 2022 and complete in 2023 with warehouses ranging from 200k to a million square feet, up to 30 metres high. The roofs will be able to be fitted with solar panels for renewable energy.
The developers have also committed to build a new road connecting the A5 and A449, improving infrastructure for better transport in & out of the site. A rail interchange is also part of the project along with 2 country parks.

Planning for the Manchester to Crewe leg will be the first section subject to value-for-money assessment, we learnt this week from the minutes of the HS2 Board meeting. Addition to the AMP7 framework for smaller works on water, wastewater and non-infrastructure assets to the value of £150m has been granted to a number of contractors including Clancy and Galliford Try, with projects released via tenders to the value of £500-£10m. The area covered will be the Northumbrian Water Operating Area and the Essex and Suffolk Water Operating Area with projects released in 3 lots.
£600m Leeds Teaching Hospital Scheme Winners

National Housing Federation Appoints 3 for £600m Framework
The National Housing Federation’s Building Better scheme, an alliance of 29 housing associations and local authorities, has appointed Ilke Homes, Impact Modular and TopHat to the £600m framework for building offsite. They will deliver 800 modular homes (built offsite & assembled onsite) by 2026. Modern Methods of Construction such as building offsite allows more homes to be built faster.
